Description
PYLI is designed to teach high school age students the importance of actively being involved with their community. The leadership program encourages teamwork among students from various communities, thus creating a network for students to utilize in the future.
PYLI’s mission is to raise the awareness of young people in community problem-solving, to prepare young people to take on meaningful roles in community problem-solving, and to develop their individual capacity to provide meaningful service and leadership in the communities from which they come.
We use hands-on experience as much as possible to teach. Sessions include tours, role-playing, panel presentations, videotapes, lectures, games, question and answer sessions, and other techniques.
Participants are expected to attend all sessions unless prevented by a serious illness or other major family emergency.
A requirement of graduation is that no more than two sessions be missed.
Graduates of the program will be expected to help with succeeding class programs. |
