The Profession

The PTA works under the supervision of a Physical Therapist. The duties include assisting the Physical Therapist in implementing treatment programs according to plan of care. The PTA trains patients in exercises and activities of daily living, conducts treatments using special equipment, administers modalities and other treatment procedures and reports to the Physical Therapist on the patient's response.

Employment

PTAs are employed in all types of health care facilities and clinics, as well as home health, public schools and educational organizations. They may also have their own individual practice. Starting salaries vary considerable depending on type of facility.

Application and Requirements

The application deadline is the first Friday in April. Interviews are in May and classes begin in August.

Enrollment is limited to 14 students.

All students accepted into the program will be required to pass a drug screen and criminal background check.
