Shelbi Woods is nominated by peers for vice president in State HOSA organization Fort Cobb, OK – October 17, 2006 - Shelbi Woods (Hydro) was recently elected as Vice President for the Oklahoma Health Occupations Student of America (HOSA) Organization. Shelbi is currently a student in the Practical Nursing Program at Caddo Kiowa Tech Center. About 1,200 health career students and advisors attended the 2006 HOSA Fall Leadership Conference on October 10, 2006 in Oklahoma City and voted on state officers. The conference included officer training workshops, guest speakers and the election of the 2006-2007 HOSA State Officer Team. At the conference, the current State Officer Team led local HOSA officers in training for presidents, vice-presidents, secretaries, treasurers, historians, reporters, and parliamentarians. Keynote speaker, Allan Johnson delivered a dynamic address to inspire students to get excited about the upcoming year and the opportunity to work as a team with the new state officers. The 2006-2007 HOSA State Officer Team includes Kristi Dennis - Francis Tuttle Technology Center, president; Shelbi Woods - Caddo Kiowa Technology Center, vice-president; Abigail Roberson - Tulsa Technology Center, northeast region secondary representative; Sarah Spitler - Meridian Technology Center, northwest region secondary representative; Joshua Mulanax - Tulsa Technology Center, southeast region secondary representative; Sarah Bennight - Great Plains Technology Center, southwest region secondary representative; Amanda Hardgrave - Gordon Cooper Technology Center, northeast region post-secondary representative; Stephanie Warner - Chisholm Trail Technology Center, northwest region post-secondary representative; Anna Nicholas - Kiamichi Technology Center-Hugo, southeast region post-secondary representative; and Kendell Dawson - Western Technology Center, southwest region post-secondary representative. With over 4,300 members, Oklahoma HOSA is the only Oklahoma vocational student organization designed to exclusively serve the needs of students in health career programs. HOSA is an integral part of the health careers education division within the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education. HOSA’s mission is to enhance the delivery of compassionate, quality healthcare by providing opportunities for knowledge, skill and leadership development of all Health Science students, therefore, helping students to meet the needs of the health care community.
