Cosmetology program at CKTC receives Distinguished Achievement Award Fort Cobb, OK – August 8, 2006 – Caddo Kiowa Technology Center recently received the Oklahoma Association of Career and Technology Education Distinguished Achievement Award for the Pampered Hands Program. Cosmetology students at Caddo Kiowa Technology Center started visiting the Carnegie Nursing home each Wednesday morning to do nails for the residents. The program is provided free of charge to any citizen of the home who wishes to participate. It is a learning experience for the students and a delight for the patrons. Teri Toppah, the activities director at the Carnegie Nursing Home reported that “The Caddo Kiowa students provide loving and caring interaction with our residents every week. The services they perform are excellent. These students have given so much more to our residents than just a manicure. They have helped them with their self-esteem -- making them feel as beautiful as they are. We are very grateful to be involved with such a great class who enjoys our residents as much as the residents enjoy them.” The award was presented at the 2006 Career and Technology Education Summer Conference held August 1-3, at the Tulsa Convention Center. The conference, one of Tulsa’s 10 largest, attracts more than 3,500 career and technology educators from across Oklahoma. Oklahoma ACTE is the professional organization for the state’s career and technology education administrators, teachers and staff members. The Distinguished Achievement Award recognizes technology center districts for their innovative or unique accomplishments benefiting its students and community. Caddo Kiowa Technology Center's campus is located in Fort Cobb, Oklahoma.
