Caddo Kiowa Technology Center is awarded FEMA grant
Fort Cobb, OK – October 10, 2005 – Preconstruction began in September for a safe room on Caddo Kiowa Technology Center’s (CKTC) campus.
Superintendent Jerry Martin received word in early September that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) had approved CKTC’s grant application to build a safe room. FEMA awarded CKTC $588,000 with CKTC providing a 25% in-kind contribution to the project.
“We will construct the safe room between the Child Development Center and the Business and Computer Technology building,” reported Martin, “On any given day we could have over 800 people on our campus and 80 children in our daycare, so this will definitely benefit our students, visitors, staff and community.”
The 4200 square feet, 840 person capacity shelter will serve not only as a safe room storm shelter, but also a conference center, inclement weather playroom and student organization meeting area.
Caddo Kiowa Technology Center's campus is located in Fort Cobb, Oklahoma. Additional information about programs and services at CKTC is available at www.caddokiowa.com, and statewide information is available at www.okcareertech.org.
