CKTC receives Gold Star Award

Fort Cobb, OK – August 23, 2013 – Caddo Kiowa Technology Center recently received the prestigious Gold Star School award during the annual CareerTech summer conference in Oklahoma City.

CKTC met the stringent requirements of the program, which are based primarily on school-wide performance data in both full-time programs and business and industry services.

This is the ninth time the school has reached the Gold Star School status that requires graduates have an 82.5% placement rate. More than 90% of CKTC’s graduates are in a career related to their training or continuing their education.

“I am very proud of our staff, whose dedication to the students and this district continues to amaze me,” said Superintendent Dennis Ruttman. “I am even more pleased with the ambition of our students and the commitment they have to their career goals.”

CKTC is four years into its strategic planning that includes Tech Centers that Work and Tools for Schools initiatives. The planning has involved taking a step back and evaluating the answers to these questions: What is being done? Why is it being done? What are the results?

“It has set the tone for us to easily transition our students from getting their education to making a good salary,” Ruttman reported.

CKTC also exceeded the Gold Star criteria for accountability, strategic planning, student organization participation, career guidance and recruitment, relationships with partner schools, staff and school board member training and business and industry training services.
