Practical Nursing

Program Summary

Licensed practical nurses care for ill, injured, convalescent, and disabled persons. They work under the direct supervision of physicians and registered nurses.

Completion of the course prepares students for the NCLEX examination.

Application

• Step 1: Pick up an application
• Step 2: Complete Assessment
• Step 3: Turn in a completed application
• Step 4: Participate in an interview

A committee will determine acceptance into the PN program. Once an application has been successfully completed, prospective students will receive notification of enrollment status.

Only completed applications will be considered for admission. A completed application will include the following:

• copies of all required immunizations
• A copy of high school transcript or GED certification (no diploma copies)
• Copies of transcripts of successfully completed technology center and/or college classes
• Established employment record
• Three reference questionnaires in sealed envelopes (these must be performed by professional and/or educational references only -- no family nor friends)
• Copes of the TABE and SAGE testing (these tests are given in the Academic Center; the TABE takes approximately 3 hours and the SAGE takes approximately 2 hours)

Applicants must have graduated from high school or passed their GED to enter the PN program.

The program accepts students four times each year.
