The profession tailors the rehabilitation process individually and through evaluation and treatment, seeks to achieve restoration or improvement of impaired functions in every day activities (the occupations of self-care, work and leisure) that are important to the patient.

Employment Opportunities

Shortages and vacancies are being reported in rural areas and in several practice settings, for example in school systems needing pediatric practitioners.

The fastest growing segment of the population is the elderly who will need OT services. Additionally, premature infants, survivors of spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries and severe orthopedic injuries will require extensive occupational therapy.
