Program Summary

The printing industry is divided into three operations: prepress, press and binding or finishing.  Prepress workers are responsible for preparing printed material for printing presses using page layout software; inputting text; graphics; and photos to be output to laser printers, platemakers or film.

Press Operators are responsible for the maintenance, set-up and operation of the press.

The binder workers transform printed sheets into books, magazines, catalogues, folders, pamphlets or directories by folding, gathering, gluing, stitching, trimming sewing and wrapping.
